Ex-MEGADETH Guitarist MARTY FRIEDMAN Pays Tribute To Fallen Legend

Former MEGADETH guitarist Marty Friedman says that he and fellow ex-MEGADETH member, bassist Dave Ellefson, injected a rock'n'roll feel to the unfinished BUDDY HOLLY tune, "That Makes It Tough", which the duo helped re-record last weekend for an upcoming album by vocalist STEVE RICHARDS (as first reported here on Monday).

"Buddy would have rocked it out," said Friedman, who describes himself as a huge Holly fan. "It's almost like he's rising from the dead. It's my connection to the legend."

"I felt that song, whoever records it, would probably have a hit on their hands, because it's a great song," Holly's widow, Maria Elena Holly, told the East Valley Tribune. "When I heard [Richards] sing, I knew it would be perfect for him." Holly had informally recorded the song — one of the last he wrote before his death in a 1959 plane crash at age 22 — on what are known as "The Apartment Tapes."
